These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding agreement between you and AdFontes.AI, Inc. (“AdFontes,” “we,” “us”) governing your use of the AdFontes website, applications, and services (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

AdFontes lets you converse with AI representations of historical Christian thinkers, convene multi-author panels, and study Scripture with an AI guide, drawing on a library of historical Christian texts. The Service is provided for personal study, education, and edification.

2. Eligibility and accounts

• Age. You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
• Account. You are responsible for your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information and keep it current. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.
• One person per account. Accounts are for individual use and may not be shared, resold, or transferred without our consent.

3. AI-generated content — important disclaimer

Please read this section carefully. It is central to how AdFontes works.

• The “authors” are AI simulations, not the actual people. Responses attributed to Augustine, Calvin, Wesley, or any other figure are generated by artificial intelligence to resemble how that person might have written or spoken, based on their texts. They are not the actual words, positions, or endorsements of any real person, living or dead, nor of their estates, churches, traditions, or representatives.
• Not authoritative. AI-generated responses may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading, and may misrepresent a figure’s actual views or the texts they are drawn from. Do not rely on them as statements of fact.
• Not professional, pastoral, doctrinal, medical, legal, or financial advice. The Service is for study and reflection. It is not a substitute for your own discernment, your church or pastor, or a qualified professional. Do not use it to make decisions that require professional or pastoral counsel.
• Scripture and source texts. Bible passages are provided through third-party providers (see §8) and historical texts are drawn from public-domain and licensed editions. Translations and editions differ; verify anything you intend to rely on against an authoritative source.
• Your responsibility. You are responsible for how you interpret and act on anything the Service produces.

4. Subscriptions, billing, and renewals

a. Plans. AdFontes offers a free tier (Discere) and two paid tiers, each paid tier available as a monthly or annual subscription:

Free trial. New accounts begin with a 14-day free trial that includes full Disciple-level access, with no payment method required. When the trial ends, your account automatically moves to the free (Discere) plan unless you have chosen a paid plan. The free plan includes a limited daily amount of one-on-one Chat; Panel, Study, and unlimited use require a paid plan.

b. Billing. Paid subscriptions are billed in advance through our payment processor, Stripe, to the payment method you provide. Annual plans are billed once for the year; monthly plans are billed each month.

Purchases through the Apple App Store or Google Play. If you subscribe inside our iOS or Android app, your subscription is sold and billed by Apple or Google under their terms — not through Stripe — and payment is charged to your Apple Account or your Google Play account. Those subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Renewal, cancellation, and refunds are handled in your Apple Account or Google Play subscription settings: we cannot cancel or refund a store subscription on your behalf, and §4(d) and §4(e) do not apply to it. Cancelling stops future renewals; your paid access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. Store prices are shown in the app before you purchase and may differ from the prices in the table above.

c. Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annual) at the then-current price, unless you cancel before the renewal date. By subscribing, you authorize these recurring charges to continue until you cancel.

Before you subscribe, we show you — on the checkout screen itself — the price, the billing frequency, the fact that the subscription renews automatically until cancelled, and how to cancel. We send a confirmation of these terms by email after your first payment. You can cancel at any time from your account settings, without contacting us (see §4(d)).

d. Cancellation. You may cancel at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; your paid access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not provide partial-period refunds except as stated in §4(e) or required by law.

e. Refunds. We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee on your first payment: if you contact us within 7 days of your first charge for a plan, we will refund that charge. After that window, and for subsequent renewal charges, payments are non-refundable except where required by law. (Because every account begins with a 14-day free trial, you can evaluate the full product before any charge.) This does not affect your right to cancel at any time under §4(d).

f. Price changes. We may change plan prices or features. For existing subscribers, price changes take effect at the next renewal, and we will give you advance notice and a chance to cancel before the new price applies.

g. Free tier and data. The free tier is offered in exchange for the data terms described in our Privacy Policy (§3 of that policy): free-tier conversation content may be used to operate and improve the Service — including quality review, analytics, and tuning our prompts, retrieval, and features. We do not train AI models on your conversations. Paid subscribers may opt out of product-improvement use in account settings.

h. Taxes. Prices may not include applicable taxes, which you are responsible for.

i. Failed payments. If a charge fails, we may suspend or downgrade your paid access until payment is resolved.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms;
• Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to access, or probe, scan, or test the security of the Service;
• Scrape, harvest, or bulk-export content, or use automated means to access the Service except as we expressly permit;
• Reverse engineer, copy, or resell the Service, or use it to build a competing product or to train a competing AI model;
• Misrepresent AI-generated content as the genuine words or endorsement of a real person or organization;
• Upload or transmit malware, or interfere with or disrupt the Service;
• Use the Service to harass, abuse, defame, or harm others, or to generate content that is unlawful, hateful, or that exploits or endangers minors.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate this section.

6. Intellectual property

• Our rights. The Service — including its software, design, branding, compilation of texts, and AI features — is owned by AdFontes.AI, Inc. and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service under these Terms.
• Source texts. Historical works are provided from public-domain editions or under license. Bible text is provided through third parties (see §8) and remains subject to those providers’ rights and terms.
• Your content. You retain ownership of the prompts and inputs you submit. You grant us a license to use that content to operate and improve the Service as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not submit content you do not have the right to submit.
• AI output. Subject to these Terms, we do not claim ownership of the responses generated for you; however, given the nature of AI, identical or similar output may be generated for others, and output is provided without any warranty (see §3 and §9).

7. Service availability and changes

The Service may change over time — features may be added, modified, or removed — and it may occasionally be unavailable or interrupted. Authorized administrators may review conversation content to operate, debug, and improve the Service, as described in the Privacy Policy (§6).

8. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including AI model providers (OpenAI, Anthropic), Bible text (API.Bible), retrieval and hosting infrastructure, and payment processing (Stripe). Your use of the Service may be subject to those providers’ terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and any warranty regarding the accuracy, reliability, or completeness of AI-generated content (see §3). We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, AdFontes.AI, Inc. and its owners and operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, goodwill, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service or your reliance on any AI-generated content. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or USD $100.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless AdFontes.AI, Inc. from claims, damages, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.

12. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the Service or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including §3, §6, §9, §10, §11, and §13) will survive.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at privacy@adfontes.ai and work with us in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days. Most problems can be solved this way, and we would genuinely rather solve them this way.

Courts. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of Tennessee, and you and AdFontes each consent to the personal jurisdiction and venue of those courts. Either of us may still bring an individual claim in small-claims court if it qualifies.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you (for example, by email or an in-app notice) and update the effective date above. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
